Lecompte’s Secret reveals the finest and most complex expressions of a great Calvados Pays d’Auge.
Born of time and patience , this blend comes from our Cellar Master’s unique savoir-faire, since only he knows the complementarities and pairings from which will be born the Secret’s unique aromas.
THE FORGOTTEN BARRELS
85 years after Maison Lecompte was founded, the new owners entrusted Richard Prével, 3rd generation of Cellar Master, with the mission of creating the most extraordinary and the most perfect Calvados ever to have existed. For 5 years, he then proceeded to blend and compose many hundreds of eaux-de-vie.
During this quest for the perfect balance he unearthed a few barrels from the founder of Maison Lecompte, forgotten since 1923. This priceless treasure, made of over 100 eaux-de-vie, will be the final aromatic touch to an already exceptional blend. From the forgotten casks of the House of Lecompte, the Secret was born.
For this precious nectar, Maison Lecompte has asked an artisan to create an exclusive crystal decanter, as rare as its content. Each “mouth-blown” bottle is unique, manually bottled, with the number engraved in the crystal.
Presented in a lacquered-wood box padded with a light leather, equal to its rarity, the Secret is definitely the most beautiful creation that calvados has ever known.
Nose: refined, fruity with notes of agrumes, dry fruits, candied fruits, chocolate, caramel, caramelized apple, toasty notes.
Palate: candied fruits, candied orange, a passing tart freshness followed by notes of coffee, liquorice, sour cherry, bitter orange chocolate, concentration of aromas, round and mellow and, as a finale, a luxurious aromatic complexity along the memory of the apple.
The fusion of the oak’s tannins, the sea breeze of Normandy, combined with these precious treasures will ever so slowly give life to what will forever remain a secret.
